Level 1

Level 1 provides a thorough introduction to ballet's essential components, with a focus on achieving correct positions, coordination, and artistic expression. Students learn to memorize classical ballet's French terminology necessary for the comprehension of the discipline. Emphasis is placed on mastering the correct positioning of legs, body, head, and hands, both at the barre and in the centre. Level 1 prioritizes the development of emotional expressiveness, musical rhythm coordination, and imaginative thought, all crucial for impactful dance performances. This approach is designed to unleash and cultivate each student's creative potential, paving their way for future growth in ballet.

Level 1 begins with floor exercises that aim to improve flexibility, ligament elasticity, turnout, and muscle strength. Progressing to the barre, students start with exercises facing the barre, using both hands for support, and eventually evolve to more challenging one-handed exercises with opposing leg movements. Centre practice reinforces barre exercises, focusing on balance and pose refinement. A part of each lesson is devoted to rehearsing choreographic compositions. As students advance, selected individuals are introduced to elementary pointe work, initially at the barre and later at the centre.

Level 1 serves as a crucial foundation, enabling students to acquire mastery over fundamental ballet exercises and to develop a solid understanding of step coordination. It stands as an exemplary starting point for students on their ballet journey, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to flourish in this exquisite art form.
