Primary
The Primary ballet program is dedicated to developing students’ physical strength and mental discipline, essential for advanced ballet training. It starts with targeted floor exercises to sculpt muscles, enhance flexibility, and build core strength, integrating arm and leg coordination with head movements, all synchronized to music for rhythmic development.
At the barre, fundamental ballet exercises like demi plié, battement tendu, and relevé are practiced, while centre work focuses on foot positions, posture, and hand positions during port de bras, demi plié, and relevé. The instructor leads through combinations that emphasize leg straightening, knee resilience, turnout, toe pointing, balance, and coordinated movements of hands, feet, and head. Jumps in diagonal patterns reinforce leg power, elevation, and proper landing.
The Primary ballet program also includes ballet improvisation to classical music pieces, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and an enjoyable social learning atmosphere.
Ages 7-8
★ Placement is determined by the student’s age as of September 1. Students remain in the same program for the full duration of the designated age group and do not transfer mid-year.
